Rice urges unity in North Africa's fight on terror The Associated Press Sunday, September 7, 2008 RABAT, Morocco: U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice urged North African countries to build a more unified approach in fighting terrorism and to maintain efforts for political reform as she wrapped up a three-day visit to the region Sunday. Rice said she discussed "the process of reform" during all of her meetings with regional leaders. Her talks also helped "look at ways in which we might help the countries of this important region to have a more unified approach to the challenges that face them," Rice said at a joint news conference with her Moroccan counterpart. Moroccan Foreign Minister Taieb Fassi-Fihri said the meetings also addressed "relations with our brother country Algeria," and what can be done "against common threats and international terrorism."
