The use of sensing systems in the home has the potential to impact various research areas such as chronic care management, aging in place, and sustainability. But such sensing systems can also affect our daily lives. Shwetak Patel of the Georgia Institute of Technology developed what he calls infrastructure mediated sensing, or IMS.
