Survivors struggle to deal with their losses in earthquake-battered south-western Sichuan province, while China faces a massive task of dealing with the 4.8 million people made homeless. Rescue workers continued the grim task of pulling bodies from the rubble of houses, schools and factories in south-western Sichuan province on Friday (May 16) following China's worst earthquake in more than 30 years. Meanwhile, survivors struggled to deal with the loss of family and friends, and tens of thousands were left homeless. In Renhe, a village of around 2,100 people situated within 100 kilometres of the quake's epicentre in Wenchuan county, nearly 400 dead bodies had been pulled from the rubble so far on Friday. It was unknown how many had been buried altogether after homes and schools were knocked flat by Monday's (May 12) 7.9 magnitude earthquake.
