With her baby due any moment, Lucy finds it challenging trying to remain calm given Ricky's nervous behavior. When she asks the Mertzes to come over to offset Ricky, she winds up with three very anxious people. Ricky wants the three of them to rehearse Lucy's trip to the hospital in order to be prepared. They do two smooth run-throughs of Ethel phoning the doctor, Fred taking care of the suitcase and Ricky preparing Lucy for the cab ride. However when Lucy comes out of the bedroom and informs them that the time is at hand, each one of them forgets their assignment and bedlam ensues. Finally at the hospital waiting room, Ricky realizes he must change into his voodoo costume, hurry to the club to do his number and race back. When he does return, in full voodoo make-up and garb, he greets his new son and proceeds to faint.
