Canadian label DSQUARED2 reconstructed an Italian piazza for its Dolce Vita-themed fashion show in Milan on Friday (September 29), letting models saunter down the catwalk in shorts, cropped jackets and high heels to the sound of 1950s summer hits. The designers, twins Dean and Dan Caten, had set up café facades complete with bustling waiters and loitering young men on scooters to create the right holiday mood for their collection of tailored navy jackets with gold buttons, ice cream-pink striped mini-dresses and blue Capri trousers worn with a yellow jacket. Bikinis and wide-brimmed straw hats added to the playful, flirty seaside theme. At the Versace show later in the afternoon, there was no need for elaborate props and gimmicks - a front row packed with the rich and famous and a high-octane collection of super-sexy dresses provided enough theatricality.
