About the performer: Jayashree Jangam is a Kathak dance performer and teacher. She runs her own school of Kathak dance in the name of "Nrityakunjan" in Pune, India. She has held the position of Principal of Kala-Chhaya, Pune from 1981 to 1987 - During this time she has taught degree holders and foreigners too. During her stay in Baroda, she was appointed as a Kathak Dance lecturer in the Faculty of Performing Arts of MS University, Baroda (1989-1990) Her Gurus have been: Late Shri Balasahed Gokhale, Shrimati Prabha Marathe(Founder Director of Kalachhaya. Pune) & Guru Shri Munnalal Shukla Jee (Kathak Kendra, New Delhi) She has training of Lucknow tradition for 18 years - and has been awarded National scholarship from the Cultural Ministry - India, for three years for higher training in Kathak dance at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi.
