This is an attempt by me to explain why I remain a registered independent. I am definitely not a Republican, but the Democrats, whom I agree with in most instances, still hold views that I cannot support in any way. The Democratic Party's post-Vietnam War animosity towards the military is a huge problem for me. I am also posting this as an answer to those who are madly antimilitary and antiwar. Granted, the military has not been employed correctly by the Bush administration as a tool of national policy. However, the price for peace has been paid in blood time and time again by America's military men and women, and they deserve our recognition and respect. I know my own service in the United States Army imposed many sacrifices, and has had many consequences in my life, both good and bad.
