New Delhi, Oct. 28, 2007 : More than 20,000 tribesmen from across the country marched the streets of New Delhi today, demanding free government land. The "Janadesh March", organised by Ekta Parishad, was flagged off at Gwalior on October 2. The tribesmen have already marched for 24 days and have covered a distance of 340 kms. The tribals who are forest dwellers were forced out of their natural habitats after forests were declared as state property in 1947.
